The Christian Women's Job Corps program is a transformative program that equips women with the essential job and life skills needed to build brighter futures.

In a nurturing, Christ-centered environment, we plant the seeds of hope by guiding participants through a powerful curriculum that includes Bible study, computer skills training, job readiness preparation, financial literacy, and healthy boundaries. Our employment readiness program works closely with each woman to help secure meaningful employment or continue their education after graduation. Upon completing the program, women can receive scholarships to continue their studies at local institutions. No matter where you are in your journey, the Christian Women’s Job Corps offers the hope, fellowship, and steadfast support you need to reach your goals and fulfill your God-given potential.

Our program is 3 days a week, Tuesday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. for 9 weeks. Students are provided with free breakfast and lunch while they are in this program. The program is free of cost, thanks to our local donors and community.

What To Expect:

You made it to the first step: considering our program. Whoohoo!

When you submit an application online (see below), our Program Director will reach out to you to let you know that we received your application and will schedule an in-person interview before the class starts. This in-person interview is a relaxed conversation in our office where we are able to talk about your goals in life, answer any questions you have, and give you a tour of our space.

You’re accepted: now what?

After completing your interview, you will receive a phone call from us to let you know whether you have been accepted. A month before the class session you are scheduled to start, we will have contact you to check that you are still interested and schedule you to come in for in-person orientation. At the in-person orientation, you will meet your classmates, sign paperwork, and get your class schedule and materials.

Your first day:

When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by friendly volunteers, check in on the iPad at the front, and make your way upstairs to our classroom to put your personal items away in your cubby. Between 8:00 a.m.- 8:45 a.m., we offer complimentary breakfast before class. At 9:00 a.m., our first class begins. You will be in class (with breaks of course) until lunch at noon. During this time, you will share a meal with everyone. You will attend one more class after lunch, then from 2:15- 2:50, we feature a guest speaker from the community to share resources. Class dismisses at 3, but you are welcome to stay and utilize the computer lab!

What you will gain:

By being a part of our program, you gain a sisterhood of women who will always root for you, a network of people from our community who will help you get to where you need to be, and most importantly, you will grow confidence and take steps for your future- all of this in 9 weeks! It’s free, so why not!

Our program is designed to be engaging and memorable- some days we get to attend job fairs to practice our interview skills, meet local business owners at their businesses, take trips to our professional clothes closet, and more. At the end of our program, you will participate in our graduation ceremony where you get to wear a graduation gown, walk a stage, and get a certificate!

Spring session starts February 17th, 2026. Join our waitlist today!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do we have a men’s program?

We put our men’s program on hold in 2024 to focus on growing our women’s program. There is currently a Christian Men’s Job Corps located in Lufkin, Texas called The Men’s Fieldhouse. We hope that one day we can open our men’s program back up!

How much does it cost to go through this program?

Our program is community-funded so that you as a student do not have to pay for anything! All classroom materials, food, and experiences through our program are FREE of cost.

Do you offer GED classes?

We offer free access to Essential Education, a program that is designed for students to be able to study for the High School Equivalency Test, or the GED. During the program, we have allotted time for students to work on their GED’s. At this time, we have limited seats for individuals who are not able to commit to the Employment Readiness Program but still want to continue their GED. Please call our office at 936-564-2952 to check availability.

Can I pick what classes I want to go through?

Our Employment Readiness Program is all-inclusive, meaning every student goes through each class together.

I’ve been through this program before and want to re-enroll:

Please submit an application and attend the interview so we can make a thorough assessment!

What if I can’t commit to 9-weeks because I work?

We encourage our students to continue to work. In the past, students have switched their availability at work to be able to commit to completing our program. Our goal is for you to attend every class in the Employment Readiness Program for you to get the full experience. We are hoping to add an after hours program for working students!

What classes do you offer?

Our Employment Readiness Program offers the following: Job Readiness, Financial Literacy, Healthy Boundaries, Computer Skills, and Bible Study. Our program also has time daily for a guest speaker from the community to share resources, as well as other elements such as a Business Panel Luncheon and Mock Interviews.

What is the dress code? Should I bring a backpack?

Our Employment Readiness Program is designed to mimic the workplace. We ask our students to wear business casual clothing, but if you do not have that, we ask that you dress presentable. Please avoid pajamas, bonnets, hoodies, etc. Many of our students do bring bags to carry items from class, but you will be provided a cubby in the classroom to place all of your personal belongings.

Is there an age requirement?

We do ask that our students be at least 18 years old to participate in our program!

What should I bring to my interview?

Please bring an ID or Driver’s License to complete your application. If you have questions or additional documentation, please give us a call prior to your interview.
